1. Scope
This Policy applies to Scenery on the web, iOS, and Android: our websites, the Scenery app, account and profile features, streaming and downloads, recommendations, notifications and email, subscription purchases made through the Apple App Store, Google Play, or web checkout, share links, and related support communications. Read it together with our Terms of Service.
“Scenery,” “we,” “us,” or “our” refers to the operator of the Scenery service.
2. Information We Collect
Account Information
Your account identifier, email address, display name, profile photo, app language, account settings, account role, creation time, and last sign-in time. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive the email address and name those services release to us, and a Google profile photo is copied into Scenery storage and served from a public URL. Passwords, one-time codes, and provider tokens are held by our authentication provider rather than by Scenery. A phone sign-in path exists in the app but is disabled by default.
Subscription Information
Your subscription tier and status, the RevenueCat subscription, product, and store identifiers, the current period end, a subscription management URL, and when we last reconciled that state. Payment-method details, billing address, tax information, and receipts are handled by the Apple App Store, Google Play, or RevenueCat Web Billing and its payment processor, Stripe. Scenery never receives your card number.
Listening and Library Information
This is the largest category of information we hold, and all of it is linked to your account. We record one history entry for each track you play past 30 seconds or 20% of its length, whichever comes first, with the track, the time, and whether you played the binaural or Atmos version; your total listening seconds, split by binaural and Atmos; your daily listening seconds against your quota, together with the time zone your device reports; the tracks you like and dislike; the tracks you download; the playlists you create, including their titles and the order of your playlists and of the tracks inside them; per-track scores and a tag-weighted taste profile derived from what you play and like, which we use to rank recommendations; and the weekly or monthly listening reports we generate from this data, which contain your play count, distinct tracks, binaural and Atmos minutes, likes, and downloads.
Notification Information
Your notification preferences for each category and channel, your report cadence, quiet hours, time zone, and notification language; the notifications delivered to your inbox and whether and when you read or dismissed them; and, if you enable push notifications on an iOS or Android device, a Firebase Cloud Messaging device token together with that device’s platform, app version, app language, and when it was last seen. For each notification we try to send you, by email or by push, we keep a delivery record with the channel, the status, the provider’s message identifier, and any error the provider returned, including any bounce or complaint reported back by the email provider.
Support Information
When you report an issue we collect the issue type, your description, the error trace the app captured, the platform you were using, timestamps, and any screenshots you attach. Administrators may add status, review notes, and resolution details. A copy of the report, including your email address and account identifier and time-limited links to your screenshots, is delivered to us by email.
Sharing Information
When you create a share link we store the track it points to, a hash of the link token, its expiry, the last time it was successfully used, and whether you revoked it.
Device and Technical Information
Scenery does not include a third-party analytics or crash-reporting SDK. We do not collect screens viewed, searches, discovery interactions, or general feature-use events, and crash reports are not transmitted automatically; an error trace reaches us only when you choose to attach it to an issue report. Platform and app version are stored only with a registered push device and with an issue report. Our infrastructure providers necessarily process request metadata, including your IP address, in order to deliver and secure the service; Scenery does not store that metadata itself and does not derive your location from it.
Information Stored on Your Device
Scenery stores on your device your cached profile and avatar URL, your entitlement state, a sign-in session identifier, downloaded audio and its download records, your likes, your playlist names and order, and a cached copy of the catalogue. Web checkout briefly stores your account identifier, the selected package, and the checkout start time in your browser’s session storage.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Scenery and its providers use cookies, local storage, or similar technologies for sign-in, preferences, checkout, and security.
3. How We Use Information
We use information to provide, maintain, secure, and improve Scenery: to authenticate you, stream audio, apply your daily listening quota, keep your library and downloads in sync, rank recommendations using your track scores and taste profile, generate your listening reports, deliver the notifications and emails you have not turned off, process subscriptions and entitlements, answer support reports, prevent fraud and abuse, enforce our Terms, and comply with law.
We may use aggregated or de-identified information to understand trends and improve performance, discovery, reliability, and product design.
4. Subscriptions and Payment Processing
On iOS and Android, subscriptions are purchased through the Apple App Store or Google Play. Those stores process your payment and pass transaction and receipt information to RevenueCat, which manages your entitlement.
On the web, subscriptions are purchased through RevenueCat Web Billing, whose payment processor is Stripe. Starting a purchase sends you to a checkout page hosted by RevenueCat and Stripe, with your account identifier in the checkout URL and the selected package in its query string. That is when your account identifier reaches them: the RevenueCat SDK running in your browser is never signed in to your Scenery account, and on the web your paid access is resolved from Scenery’s own database rather than from RevenueCat. RevenueCat and Stripe also run their own code in your browser to display prices and take payment, and Stripe collects device and browser characteristics in order to screen payments for fraud.
RevenueCat receives your account identifier so that purchases and restores are linked to your account. Scenery receives the subscription tier, status, product, store, current-period end, and management URL needed to grant access, provide support, and keep financial records. Scenery does not receive full payment-instrument details.
5. How We Share Information
We share information only as needed to run the service and for legitimate business, security, and legal purposes. Our providers are:
Supabase — authentication, database, realtime, and server functions, and public storage for profile photos.
Cloudflare — website and app hosting, network and security services, media storage, and the pipeline that processes catalogue audio.
RevenueCat, the Apple App Store, and Google Play — subscription management, purchases, restores, and receipts.
Stripe — processes web subscription payments as RevenueCat Web Billing’s payment processor, and receives the payment and device information needed to complete and screen the transaction.
Google and Apple — when you choose to sign in with them, they receive the sign-in request and return the identity information you approve.
Firebase Cloud Messaging — when push notifications are enabled on your device, Google delivers them and receives the device token, the notification title, body, and image, and the notification’s identifiers, category, deep link, and payload.
Resend — delivers our notification, listening-report, and issue-report emails and returns delivery, bounce, and complaint information.
A machine-translation provider — Google AI Studio, OpenRouter, Google Cloud Translation, or a self-hosted equivalent, depending on which is configured — receives catalogue metadata and broadcast notification copy for translation. This path is used by administrators and does not carry listener account data.
We may also disclose information to legal, safety, or compliance recipients, and to protected recipients in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or asset sale.
We do not sell personal information for money. If laws define future analytics or advertising as a “sale” or “sharing,” Scenery should provide required choices first.
6. Your Content and What Others Can See
Adding audio to the Scenery catalogue is restricted to administrators. As a listener you do not upload tracks, and there is no listener-facing setting that makes audio public or private.
What you contribute is your display name, your profile photo, the titles and order of your playlists, the text and screenshots in an issue report, and share links. Your profile photo is held in a public storage bucket and can be fetched by anyone who has its URL, without signing in. Your playlists, likes, downloads, and listening history are private to your account.
A share link is a bearer capability. Anyone holding the link can see the shared track’s title, artist, description, artwork, duration, and tags, and can play its binaural audio without signing in; the Atmos version is never shared and your identity is not shown in the preview. A link is valid for 24 hours, and each successful authorization — a holder asking us for the audio, whether or not they then listen to it — extends it by another 24 hours. You can revoke a link at any time. When you send a link to LINE, Facebook, X, or WhatsApp, that service receives the link.
Avoid putting personal or sensitive information into a display name, a playlist title, an issue report, or a screenshot.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information as reasonably needed to provide Scenery, maintain accounts and subscriptions, comply with law, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, protect the service, and maintain business records.
While your account is active:
Daily listening usage is deleted after 180 days.
Notifications you have read or dismissed are deleted after 180 days; unread notifications have no time limit.
Notification delivery records, for email and for push alike, are deleted after 90 days.
Expired share links are deleted 30 days after they expire.
Files staged for catalogue media processing expire after 7 days.
Listening history has no time limit.
Your profile, library, playlists, likes, downloads, support reports, and subscription state are kept until you delete your account.
These windows are floors rather than exact deadlines. They are applied by a scheduled sweep that runs once a week, not by a timer on each record, so a record can survive its stated window by up to that sweep interval before the next run removes it.
When you delete your account we remove the data listed on the Delete Your Account page. That page also lists what deletion does not remove, including a historical recommendation snapshot, catalogue content whose ownership link is severed rather than deleted, data kept on your own device, and records held by our subscription, email, and push providers. Backups and provider-side logs may persist for their own retention cycles, which those providers set rather than Scenery.
8. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards. No transmission or storage method is completely secure, so absolute security cannot be guaranteed.
Protect your account by securing your email and credentials and promptly reporting suspected unauthorized access.
9. Your Choices and Rights
Depending on location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or object to processing, and to withdraw consent where applicable.
Manage some information in your account or contact support for other requests. We may verify identity. Billing, security, and legal records may be retained where permitted or required.
10. International Processing
Scenery and providers may process information outside your country, where laws may differ. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for cross-border transfers.
11. Children’s Privacy
Scenery is not intended for children under 13 or the local minimum age. We do not knowingly collect their personal information. Contact us if you believe a child has provided information.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy. If changes materially affect processing, we will provide reasonable notice such as in-app notice, email, or an updated effective date. The updated Policy applies after it takes effect.
13. Contact
For privacy questions, rights requests, or subscription billing questions, email support@sceneryaudio.com or use the support channel in your Scenery account.
